F.I.R.S.T. Robotics Competitions
We did well in our 2016 competition at Kettering and Skyline becoming Alliance Captains at both events. We lost in both quarter finals but were pleased with our results. Don't you love our hand drawn banner and reliable robot. We are hoping to make it to States in 2017, Go Storm!
"Recycle Rush" was our second year of competition. The game was played by two alliances of 3 teams each, and the object was to stack as many plastic totes, recycle bins and pool noodles as possible onto the scoring platforms. Our robot was capable of lifting one recycle bin or one tote (sometimes two totes if they were side by side and lengthwise) and placing them on top of stacks up to 4 totes high. We competed in the first two weeks of the competition in Howell and Waterford Michigan.
"Aerial Assist" was our Rookie year! This game was played by two competing alliances of 3 teams each. The objective was to score points by cooperatively getting a big inflatable gym ball down the field and shooting it into a high or low goal as many times as possible in a 2 minute and 30 second match, all the while bumping and blocking the robots on the opposing alliance. Our robot had a retractable arm that was capable of scooping up the ball from the ground and scoring it into the low goal. We also had a mast that could extend up and block shots to the high goal, but found a more practical defense was to bump into the opposing team's robots to prevent them from scoring. We competed in Livonia and Mason Michigan.
